MY TOP 5 BEST PLACES TO EAT IN OUG
Its proper name is Overseas Union Garden but we locals call it Taman OUG, or just simply as OUG. A bustling neighbourhood located in the heart of Klang Valley, OUG is a food haven brimming with incredible food choices.
I can give myself a pat on the back then for choosing such a good place to stay. You see dear readers, I just moved into Parklane OUG recently. Built by Akisama Land, the serviced apartments of Parklane OUG are developed across 3 phases. But enough about where I stay, I’m here to share about food…glorious food!

From hawker stalls to coffee shops, I had a totally mouth-watering experience trying out the food here.
My pants are a little tight now (burp!) but it’s worth it, of course!
So I hope you’re hungry for some good food – these are the top 5 best eats in OUG (in this blogger’s humble opinion ;)
Note: I’ve arranged the places randomly. I just couldn’t decide on arranging them in order. They were all too downright delicious #firstworldproblems (Some of the establishments mentioned are non-halal)

Serving authentic Penang curry noodle, Ah Loy is famous for its Curry Laksa and Asam Laksa. My friend who brought me to this shop recommended the shop’s signature Curry Laksa. You can add extra ingredients such as curry chicken, curry pork spare ribs and/or curry roasted pork. Readers, I was salivating just considering what to add on in my Curry Laksa. (right now, I’m feeling super hungry remembering the rich thick flavours of the hot curry soup. YUM!)
So, anyway, my Curry Laksa was mee hoon mee with curry roasted pork. The serving was really generous. Just look at the big portion!

I enjoyed the curry a lot. It was just nice for a spicy-food lover like me.

I’m a huge beef noodles fan! So it is with great pleasure to say that I’ve discovered a new favourite place for beef noodles. Which, by the way, this shop is located just a few shops away from Steven’s Corner. It should be an easy find for my dear readers :)
The beef balls are homemade. It’s no wonder they taste so delicious. I had a bowl of dry noodles topped with minced beef and a bowl of beef soup with beef balls, beef slices, and beef stomach. My frined chose noodles with braised beef brisket and radish.

Needless to say, both of us finished our meals in record time. It was just that good! I can’t stress it enough. We went during lunch hour so it was packed to the gills. Since it was just the two of us, we didn’t mind sharing tables with others.
- Steven’s Corner

Taman Overseas Union

This popular mamak place is located along a narrow road near the OUG Wet Market. I went there at night for dinner, so as expected during peak hours, parking can be hard to find so be warned!
Nevertheless, the Garlic Cheese Naan served here is worth the double parking I had to do. (Chill please. I left my phone number and thankfully nobody horned me.)
Everyone has their favourite mamak dish (roti telur, roti bom, nasi lemak, the list is endless). For me personally, it was instant love at first sight (taste) with the Garlic Cheese Naan of Steven’s Corner.
Soft, warm, and oozing with melted cheese once you bite into it, it was heavenly! Just like biting into a cloud of cotton! Made out of cheese! With just that sweet tang of garlic, it was perfection.
Sorry for the blur picture, I was too eager to finish my awesome-delicious naan.

No worries, readers, if you don’t like the taste of garlic. There’s Cheese Naan that is absolutely worth a try. If you’re not a cheese lover, there are a ton of other options. The Roti Telur is A+!
- Down To Bones
27, Jalan Hujan Rahmat
Taman Overseas Union
Tel: 016-626 0902
Open on Saturdays & Sundays only from 630pm onwards
Located in front of Hoong Pin coffee shop (same row as Caring Pharmacy), get ready for an amazing feast of pork ribs, chicken, and lamb.
True to its name, we had a blast savouring the succulent meat right to the bones!
The pork ribs were super big. It was served with creamy mashed potatoes, sausages and some greens. I particularly love the sticky sweet taste of the garlicky glaze. The lamb was just a bit dry for my taste but my friend’s meal of grilled chicken was really meaty. Yes, I ate a bit of the skin too. So tasty! It was too hard to resist!

- Pork Noodles @ Sun Sea Restaurant
29-37, Jalan Hujan Rahmat
Taman Overseas Union
Located right beside the OUG morning Wet Market, this is the popular choice for breakfast or an early lunch. The morning brunch crowd is certainly proof of that. So be prepared to park further away near the residential area. Or double park like how I did (not recommended haha)!
The broth of the pork noodles here is TO DIE FOR! The cloudy broth was steaming hot with generous servings of minced pork, pork innards, and pork slices. It’s the most flavourful broth I’ve ever tasted in my 24 years of life XD

With seafood added, it gives the pork broth a deep flavor of natural sweetness that I was so tempted to order a second bowl. (But I didn’t. My waistline is already loudly complaining :P) The smooth ‘hor fun’ paired oh-so-nicely with the soup. I literally finished the entire bowl of soup. What a satisfying treat for my tummy!
By the way, I just played badminton with my friends this weekend at OUG Shuttle Bug, The Market Place. Guess what, there’s a new Chinese restaurant in the same building.
OUG Jade Restaurant is located on the 2nd floor and I took some quick photos of the environment. The restaurant sure looks pretty classy and inviting. I’ll probably bring my parents for a nice dinner here soon. Stay tuned! I can update my dear readers on the food in my next blog post.
